Inspection, testing and certification

Every appliance is visually inspected, tested where appropriate, labelled and recorded. You receive a professional documentation pack after the visit.

  • Formal visual inspection of appliances, plugs and leads
  • Earth continuity test for Class 1 equipment
  • Insulation resistance test
  • Polarity check for extension leads and power leads
  • RCD trip time test where relevant
  • Function check
  • Damaged plug tops replaced where needed
  • Correct appliance fuse rating checked
  • Unique barcoded ID number for each appliance
  • Pass or fail label with test date and engineer details
PAT testing equipment

Detachable leads: Equipment with a separable power lead, such as IT equipment, requires one test for the lead and one with the lead connected. This follows current IET PAT testing guidance because leads are often moved between devices.
